T H E   B I O G R A P H Y

V.O.M. Petrillo was born in Rome the 14 th August of 1932.

He obtained a diploma at the artistic Institute “Galileo Galilei”

in Rome. He also attended the Academy of Fine Arts of Rome

and the Academy of Fine Arts of France.

From 1955 to 1960 he served his artistic apprenticeship in the

atelier of  Leonardo Leoncillo at Villa Massimo in Rome.

In 1961 he worked in an atelier nearby Piazza del Popolo in Rome

with the sculptors Franco Ciuti and Mario Ceroli.

In 1963 he worked in the roman Palace of the Prince Carloni and

then from 1965 to 1967 in Via Giulia in Rome.

In 1967 the artist moved to Villa Aldobrandini (Rome).

Finally, in 1975, he settled in the atelier of Via Margutta n° 83

where the architect Valadier also lived (Valadier was the author

of the plan of Piazza del Popolo in Rome). He stayed there until

his death the 31th August 2001.

From1983 to 2001 Petrillo was also an art professor at the Roman

school of art of San Giacomo.Important artists of the twentieth

century studied in this school.

Petrillo won 25 prizes.

The artist's works are in private collections and in very important

museums:"Palazzo Pitti" in Florence,"National Museum of Modern

Art" in Rome, etc.
